College of Ibn al-Haytham organizes a scientific symposium on the proportions of pollution in environment

The college of education for pure sciences (Ibn al-Haytham), Baghdad University held a symposium entitled “the use of modern mathematical methods for determining proportions of pollution in environment” in the presence of a number of instructors and postgraduate students within the cultural season at the department. Prof. Dr. luma Naji Mohammed Tawfik delivered a lecture that addressed the definition of environment and causes of environmental pollution as well as identifying pathogenic pollutants and their effects on health and the major sources of environmental pollution. The researcher emphasized on the importance of using modern methods and techniques to keep pace with new technology the pollution ratios accurately at the same time and explaining the mechanisms that determine the proportion of pollution with heavy metals in soil concentrations. She also addressed the difficulties and problems faced by the researcher in this field and suggested several important research topics for consideration in near future, such as diffusing environmental awareness through different media and issuing decisions and legislations for solving the causes of environmental pollution by the relevant authorities and creating sites for landfill, specifically that of scientific researches wastes for reducing their impact on environment.
