Lecture on vitamin B12 at the faculty of education (Ibn al-Haytham)

  College of education for pure sciences (Ibn al-Haytham) at university of Baghdad held a lecture entitled “vitamin B12” within the cultural season of the department of chemistry. The lecture was delivered by assistant teacher Ali Mudhar Abdul Karim with the attendance of a gathering of professors and graduate students. the lecture aims to highlight the role and importance of vitamin B12 for human body which is important in the synthesis of DNA genetic material as well as production of white and red blood cells and platelets as well as the nervous system. The lecturer shed light on the sources rich in vitamin B12 such as meat, liver, eggs, milk derivatives, in addition to the symptoms induced in case of deficiency such as numbness of hands and feet, weak memory, sleep disorders, anemia, immune weakness, loss of appetite and menopause for women. The lecture dealt with the main reasons for the lack of this vitamin through disunity and absorbed into blood as a result of immersing of body functions that affect badly on health.
