  Faculty of Islamic sciences organizes a symposium on genocide The faculty of Islamic sciences at Baghdad University held a symposium on genocide sponsored by prof. Dr. (Mohamed Jawad Muhammad Said al-Turaihy). The dean of the college, prof. Dr. Abdul Aziz al-Rawi, an instructor at the department of Sharia clarified the concept of genocide which means mass murders committed against certain groups of people to destroy their existence altogether. Prof. Dr. Al-Rawi gave a brief history of genocide, including the invasion of the Mongols in 1258 which is the first genocide in history that was a cause for the liquidation of a large number of people at Baghdad, a genocide of Indians which claimed the lives of more than 100 million people, a genocide in 1933 against the Assyrians, the massacres against communists in 1959, rule of Abdul Salam Aref, Anfal campaign, Shaaban uprising and finally crimes of Daash at Spyker. After that discussions were dealt with among the attendants in this regard to enrich this theme positively.
