Signing of a memorandum of understanding to establish the Iraqi- German institute of Assyrian archaeology


Faculty of arts at University of Baghdad signed a memorandum of understanding to establish the Iraqi- German institute of Assyrian archaeology where the dean of the college, Dr. Salah Flaifil Ayed Gabri stated that the signing of this memorandum is intended to open a new window for archaeologists and ancient history professors to integrate with the Global Academic and to provide space for Iraqi and German researchers to activate scientific research between the two countries. He added that this MOU memorandum has been signed between a delegation from the faculty of arts at University of Baghdad and DAI German institute of archeology represented by Professor Margarita Van, director of East Division after two years of preparation of its terms. It is worth mentioned that the faculty of arts considered the possibility of founding a German-Iraqi institute of archaeology last year after meeting the German delegation at University of Kufa, as well as joint academic ties between Baghdad and Berlin to plan future projects in service of the Iraqi antiquities. Also the Iraqi delegation included Assistant Professor and Associate Dean for administrative affairs, Dr. Salam Abd Ali and a number of professors at the departments of ancient history and archaeology at the college.
