The reality of fisheries in Iraq and its dimensions post-2003 


Within the series of ongoing activities held at the natural history museum and research center under the auspices of president of University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul Hussein Abdul Rasul and the participation of the faculty of education for humanities (Ibn Rushd), University of Baghdad and Al-Rasheed University College, the continuing education unit and the department of fisheries at the center held a scientific symposium on (the reality of fisheries in Iraq and its dimensions post-2003) since our fisheries in Iraq are at great risk as a result of environmental pollution and the presence of water plants and fish that hinder and greatly affect Iraqi fish species and led to extinction. This symposium reached at many recommendations related to the ministries responsible for fisheries, i.e, the ministries of agriculture and environment in order to address these questions and to reduce the phenomenon of floating cages as well as addressing the growing threat of the Nile flower.
