Scientific Session about the use of Water Laser in the college of Dentistry/Baghdad

    The College of Dentistry /Baghdad University in cooperation with the Office of Taj Al-Khairat held a scientific theoretical and practical session to use the device (water laser) of the USA Company BIOLASE of treating dentals, diseases of soft issues and gums and different surgeries inside the mouth.Prof. Dr. Nabil Abdulfattah Hator ,Dean of the college of Dentistry and a number of the faculty members as well as dentists from the University of Baghdad and other universities and the Dental Association attended the session which was held at the Hall of Ibn-Al-Haytham in the college.

    The Dean opened the session with a speech in which he praised the efforts made by the Office of Taj Al-Khairat and its cooperation which contributes to strengthen the scientific aspects in line with the rapid developments in the field of dentistry.

Dr.Adel Zaid Al-Shamaa’ at the college of Dentistry /University of Mosul delivered a lecture about the use of water laser in dentistry with a presentation and a film showing these uses including the use of the water laser in the treatment of gum diseases and removing the debris and sterilizing the sinuses and the use of water laser in drilling the decay teeth I-V class without the need of anesthesia, as well as the patient’s unfeeling of pain and the use of water laser in surgery of the mouth in terms of the removal of bone and soft issues during surgical procedures and the use of water laser in the cultivation of teeth and the removing of teeth sensitivity of as well as its use in the sterilization of the roots with enlarging and creating a channel for fillings.

    The lecturer refers to the various usages of laser in cosmetic surgery as around the mouth ,face ,removing moles,scars and skin appendages and the effects of burns,birthmarks and tattoos.He also presented applicable models offered by the television for the participants in the use of the device in the drilling of the tooth with an exceeding speed more than the drilling of the tooth by traditional methods .The other practical applications included the removing of moles as well as the contribution and the practice of some instructors of dentists in the use of the device and conducting practical applications.

    The session concluded with the distribution of a number of CD disks containing the explanatory and educational material for new technologies in the field of laser device for the participants of the session.
