Symposium on employment of women in terrorist operations at Center for women’s studies 


Center for women’s studies at University of Baghdad organized its 3rd symposium for the current academic year (2016-2017) entitled “Employment of women in terrorist operations: methods and tasks) in the presence of a number of researchers, security experts and civil society organizations. Director of the center, Prof. Dr. Siham Mutasher al-Kaabi said in her speech at the opening of this event: “we discuss in this symposium today a very important issue in Iraq after the presence of the criminal gangs (ISIS) that tried various ways to employ women and children in their terrorist operations which is something unprecedented in our country that has a great ancient civilization. Al-Kaabi stated the reasons for the deviation of some women in terrorist operations to spread the prodigal thought and to finance the terrorist cells with arms. The symposium was chaired by Dr. Jihad Kazim al-Aqili and it witnessed delivering many papers such as that submitted by Dr. Motaz Abdul Hamid director of the Republican center for security and strategic research, entitled “female jihad as a means to attract terrorist fighters”, a paper by Dr. Imad Alo entitled “women’s role in terrorist operations” and Dr. Asmaa Jamil Rasheed from the center for women’s studies read a paper entitled “roles of women in ISIS “. At the conclusion of this event recommendations were given for cooperation between the center and other bodies to exchange information, fight terrorism and preparation of policies for Iraq after ISIS.
