University of Baghdad hosts the minister of higher education and scientific research and his Turkish counterpart for signing a scientific memorandum of understanding


His Excellency, the minister of higher education and scientific research, Prof. Dr. Abdul Razaq al-Issa, signed with his Turkish counterpart and president of the Turkish Higher Education Commission, Dr. Mohammed Yakta Siraj a joint scientific memorandum of understanding for the sake of implementation of the agreements concluded this year between the two parties as well as promotion of the teaching of the Turkish language in the college of languages in Iraq.  In a press conference hosted by University of Baghdad, His Excellency, the minister confirmed that the ministry would speed up the operation of the agreement with the Turkish side in the service of education in Iraq while Dr. Siraj noted that Turkey attached great importance to scientific cooperation with Iraqi for sharing knowledge and expertise between the two countries, since Turkish universities have a privileged position in world rankings. Al-Issa called on the Turkish side to transfer the Turkish scientific and historical archives to Iraq, especially since the two countries have shared interests in past centuries. It is worth mentioned that the parties reportedly presented to each other a number of folk gifts and appreciation shields after the signing of the memorandum in the presence of the Turkish ambassador in Baghdad, Fatih Yildiz and a number of members of the embassy as well as agents of the ministry of higher education and scientific research with the participation of president of University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul Hussein Abdul Rasool and dean of the college of languages, Assistant Prof. Dr. May Estevan Rizkallah and a number of those concerned in the department of mission and cultural relations at the ministry.
