University of Baghdad discusses the conclusion of a memorandum of understanding with the French Institute for the Near East


Associate Rector for scientific affairs at University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Osama Fadel Abdul Latif received a researcher from the French Institute for the Near East, Dr. Cecilia Perry for discuss a memorandum of understanding between the two sides in the field of archaeology in the presence of the director of the department of missions and cultural relations, Assistant Prof. Iyad Kadim as well as representatives of the faculty of engineering and the department of antiquities at the faculty of arts. Discussions highlighted the conservation of antiquities and archaeological and cultural sites in Iraq after discussing the possibility of cooperation with the French Institute for training of professors and students of postgraduate studies at University of Baghdad related to architecture and restoration of monuments. This meeting is considered as an introduction of inauguration of MA study in archaeology and maintenance of antiquities through a joint project with the French side in this regard. For its part, University of Baghdad will consider the mechanisms for activating this memorandum of understanding with the French side after being ratified by the University Presidency officially since it seeks for twinning with the Louvre Museum and the Lebanese University through training the specialists in monuments and architecture.
