The college of pharmacy at the university of Baghdad holds a symposium on the occasion of the international day for the elimination of violence against women

The college of pharmacy at the university of Baghdad held a symposium entitled ” the national strategy for combating violence against women in Iraq” coinciding with the international day for the elimination of violence against women in the presence of his excellency the minister of state for women’s affairs, Dr. Ibtihal Kasd Yasser Hussein  al-Zaidi and a number of feminist official figures. The dean of the college, assistant professor Dr. Ahmed Abbas  praised, in a speech, the role of women in the development of society in contributing in the reconstruction of the new Iraq by standing side by side with men in all jobs, as well as her scientific, cultural and social givings. Then Dr.  Ibtihal Kasd Yasser Hussain Zaidi delivered a lecture explaining the cases of violence against women in Western, Arab and local societies, besides the necessity of staying away from these cases that are offensive to the image of women that represents mother, sister and wife. Ms. Salama al-Khafaji, Amal al-Lami and the  assistant professor Dr. Ansam Faeq gave lectures on the same topic, followed by a presentation of a documentary film of the Baghdad women’s association, and a documentary film about the program ( my colors ) of the youth development’s foundation in conjunction with the international campaign for women. The symposium was held with conjunction with an exhibition of books and press releases that deal with women’s prestige and her role throughout ancient history and contemporary thought.
