The college of sciences at the university of Baghdad holds its second conference for studying Iraqi oil

The departments of chemistry and geology at the college of sciences at the university of Baghdad, in cooperation with the ministry of oil, held its second global conference for studying the oil of Iraq under the auspices of the minister of higher education and scientific research prof. Ali Mohammed Hussein al-Adeeb under the slogan ” the oil of Iraq is a goodness and a blessing for the Iraqis”. The president of the university of Baghdad who was the representative of the minister of higher education and scientific research, Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul Hussein stressed in a speech at the opening of the conference on the need that the researches done at the university should be applicable in order to address the problems, obstacles and the challenges facing the country and be consistent with the slogan saying “university in the service of society” and that the oil sector which is an economic tributary for Iraq and this is the only solution to turn science into application.  The president of the university of Baghdad said also that the university has won the first place among the Iraqi universities through its published researches and patents which amounted to four hundred with impact factor, as well as  preserving its last year’ rankings that is a proof of its sober scientific level, besides scholarships for its graduates who are getting very high estimates which is a source of pride towards more efforts to maintain this level. Dr. Alaa Abdul-Hussein confirmed that the university has agreements with major international oil companies to train students and employing them. The representative of the minister of oil Mikdham Mohammad Ridha thanked the university of Baghdad for its scientific support, stressing on  strengthening cooperation between the ministry of oil and the university, and involving the researchers of the ministry in the conferences done by the  university for supporting the oil industry in Iraq.  The dean of the college of sciences, prof. Dr. Salih Mahdi, thanked the ministry of oil for its fruitful cooperation and that this cooperation should extend to involve the researchers of the ministry in supervising graduate students, stressing at the same time that the teaching faculty received numerous international awards in international competitions by publishing two hundred scientific researches in journals that have impact factor, as well as being the first in patents. Before the start of the scientific sessions of the conference, the president of the university of Baghdad honored the first deputy of the chairman of the house of the representatives, Dr. Qusay al-Suhail who was the representative of the minister of oi , while the dean of the college honored the president of the university for his great support  given to the college in order to be in the ranks of its global counterparts.  The conference  which lasted to two days included a research entitled “the bio-evidences of oil and isotopes in identifying oil systems  in the Iraqi oil and gas fields” by prof. Dr. Thamer Khaz’al al-Ameri, a research entitled ” the three-dimensional geological model of the field of Dujailah ” by the researcher Walid Khaled Hamdan, a research entitled “assessment of the performance of water treatment’ regulators in the refinery of Daura ” by the researcher Abdul-Hadi Mohammed Salman, a research entitled ” vertical seismic survey in oil wells ” by the researcher Safa Nasser in addition to other researches and studies of oil in chemistry, physics and geology.  The festival was attended by many local and international delegations from the ministries of oil, science and technology, oil companies, Shell and Stat oil companies that presented publications and posters of the  British oil geology journal and films about the dynamics of the earth, the formation of oil and oil explorations.
