A great Husseinian festival at the college of Islamic sciences at the university of Baghdad

The college of Islamic sciences at the university of Baghdad held its annual Husseinian festival of Ashura. The festival opened with the speech of the dean Prof. Dr. Mohammad Jawad al- Turaihi, in which he emphasized on the great sacrifice made ​​by Imam Hussain, his family and his companions (peace be upon them), the importance of the lessons derived from this humanistic epic, the need to invest the contemporary generations of it for the sake of the Muslim community’s continuity, comprehending the principles of the first generation of Islam who have given great  lessons in sacrifice, unity and harmony among all Muslims. He added that the impact of Ashura exceeded the Islamic area in terms of the human mind that are steeped in the love of freedom and rejection of injustice which is visible in the minds of a lot of well-known personalities throughout history, both ancient and modern, through the great sayings embodied in the love of Imam Hussein (peace be upon them). Then one of the college’s students delivered a brief speech that represented the vision of the young generation towards the epic of the master of martyrs (peace be upon him), in addition to reading poems glorifying the revolution of Imam Hussein and its importance for the cohesion of the Islamic nation, preserving its intellectual, behavioral elements and immunizing the human societies from inside and outside. The festival held by the students, ended with a large banquet for attendants and participants.
