The institute of urban planning at the university of Baghdad invites researchers to participate in its scientific symposium on the future of cities and information technology

The institute of urban and regional planning for graduate studies at the university of Baghdad holds its 18th scientific symposium entitled (information technology and the future of cities) in order to achieve scientific development for the country. The symposium that will be held in the 12th of March aims at discussing the different developments that the world witnessing such as the technological advances, especially in the field of information technology in cities around the world that are bringing about significant changes. This symposium seeks to shed light on the impact of this on the cities, studying the dimensions of these effects on the urban and regional planning, studying the transformations that occur in the city because of the development of information technology and the reflection of these transformations in the planning of spatial development of cities, studying the differences between cities in the developed and developing countries, while the final goal of the symposium would be reaching at useful recommendations on the level of decision-making and the policies followed in the field of urban and regional planning. The symposium includes themes like: people, place and technological development, informatics and smart cities, urban planning and information technology, information technology systems and transfer of urban spaces. For its part, the institute called the researchers concerned with urban and regional fields to participate actively by presenting their researches and studies for the sake of urban upgrading in line with modern technological developments in the world.
