The president of the university of Baghdad calling to put the potentials of the institute of urban and regional planning in the service of community


The president of the university of Baghdad, prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul Hussein Abdul Rasul visited the institute of urban and regional planning for graduate studies as part of his field tours in the formations of the university to keep abreast of the mechanism of work and the scientific achievements achieved there. The university president met the dean of the institute, Dr. Abdul Hussein al-Askari who emphasized on the keenness of deanery to find ways to develop the educational process, providing specialized scientific supplies, a proper scientific climate which guarantees the development of capabilities in consistence with the goals set, as well as a continuous updating of curriculum and its items in line with the scientific development and maintaining  scientific sobriety.  Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul Hussein, accompanied by the dean and prof. Dr. Jamal Baqir Mutlaq visited the different departments of the institute, its preparations for the exams, updates and modifications within its buildings and establishing new halls. The visit included also the center of geographic information systems (GIS), its activities, courses and its granted certificates. For his part, the dean gave a brief presentation of the students’ researches and how the students handle modern planning directions and standards, expressing his admiration for this scientific accomplishment to reflect the real face of the university in the service of society, the need to highlight the various scientific outcomes and marketing them to media and to the academic community. At the end of the tour, the dean thanked the president of the university for his direct moral and financial support to overcome the obstacles, stressing on going ahead for the service of new Iraq and to preserve the university achievements.
