The department of sociology at the college of arts holds its first international conference with a distinguished Arab and foreign presence

The department of sociology at the college of arts at the university of Baghdad held its first international conference entitled “dialogue of cultures and religions: orientalist visions for peaceful coexistence in Iraq” with Arab and foreign presence in celebration of Baghdad as the capital of Arab culture and under the auspices of the minister of culture under the slogan “Baghdad is of Arab face, Islamic heart and a humanitarian spirit”. The conference witnessed discussing (54) researches in eight themes: the Islamic discourse and the spirit of tolerance, shared visions of heavenly religions and the human freedom and rights, the national project for inter-religious dialogue, religion and one-dimensional culture of  and religious intolerance, dialogue of religions, sects and social origin, the culture of common coexistence in present and future, problematic coexistence and its impact on national identity, the strategy of disassembly and renovation (the theory of dominance). The conference resulted in many recommendations and proposals. The conference was attended by a number of officials from the ministry of culture, general manager of Dar Al-Mamoon for translation and publishing, prof. Dr. Alaa Abu al-Hassan al-Halaq, dean of the college of arts, prof. Dr. Faisal Ghazi, as well as a wide participation by instructors of sociology in Iraqi universities, prof. Dr. Mahdi Mohammed al-Kasas from the university of Mansoura in Egypt, prof. Dr. Mohamed Ali Ather Shab, the professor of theology and dean of the faculty of arts at the university of Tehran in the Islamic republic of Iran.
