The college of engineering holds a symposium on artificial neural networks and their environmental applications


The department of environmental engineering at the college of engineering, university of Baghdad held a scientific symposium entitled “artificial neural networks and their environmental applications” where two lectures were delivered on this subject,  first lecture was delivered by prof. Dr. Adel Mohamed Awad, a lecturer at the department of environmental engineering presenting a theoretical explanation of the principle of artificial neural networks and their uses in the field of engineering and introducing the program by using MATLAB with different applications on this subject. The second lecture was delivered by the assistant professor, Ghaidaa Majeed, instructor at the university of technology who presented some environmental applications by using ANN. The symposium was attended by a group of professors of the department and graduate students. The college of engineering witnessed holding seminars for the undergraduates in the units of chemical industries where the department of chemical engineering held a scientific seminar for the students of the first grade to discuss the basic units of the chemical industries and their aims. The discussing committee consisted of assistant prof. Dr. Ahmed Faiq al-Alawi, Dr. Asrar Abdullah, Dr. Rana Thabit, the instructor Ibtihaj Faisal, while the students were divided into several groups, two students in each group and every group discussing an industrial unit and the methods of its use.
