Al – Kindy college of medicine discusses the introduction of modern educational tools in teaching of anatomy

  Continuing education unit at al – Kindy college of medicine, university of Baghdad organized a scientific seminar on “anatomy and histology” to keep abreast with the latest scientific and medical developments and the modern educational tools used in teaching of anatomy. The college website broadcasted a lecture delivered by Dr. Zuhair Bashir, head of the department of surgery entitled “new educational tools in the teaching of anatomy and histology” with the use of illustrative displays and a new device that replaces using human corpses in teaching anatomy so that to contribute in solving of a problem that most medical colleges in Iraq suffer from. The second part of the lecture dealt with a review of the microscope of multiple touches which can be used to examine tissues and blood samples that has the ability to zoom up to 1000 times and displaying the images on HD screen instead of using a traditional microscope. The seminar also included a lecture delivered by the assistant professor Dr. Youssef Abdul Rahim, associate dean for scientific affairs entitled “evidence-based diagnosis” that dealt with laboratory testing and their benefits of such tests, in addition to calling the doctors to balance between benefit and cost of an examination. At the end of the seminar there was extensive discussion with Dr. Zuhair Bashir and how to expedite their introduction in the laboratories of anatomy and histology for developing the practical side of teaching through reliance on sophisticated health technologies to keep pace with world developed medical colleges.
