University of Baghdad holds the first strategic forum to promote international relations in the presence of world ambassadors in Iraq

  Center of strategic studies at the university of Baghdad, in cooperation with the department of public relations at the ministry of culture, organized the first strategic forum with Arab and foreign embassies in Iraq. This forum was attended by the reporter of the university of Baghdad to find ways to open up with the eight countries invited to this forum (France, Serbia, Egypt, Sweden, Ukraine, India, Sudan, Sri Lanka), particularly in the political, economic and cultural fields in addition to fight against terrorism and criminal groups. At the beginning of the meeting, the director-general of the department of cultural relations, Aqeel al-Mandalawi welcomed the ambassadors and gave his thanks and appreciation to the university for its role in organizing such important forums that will highlight the historical relations between Iraq and world countries. Director of the center for strategic and international studies at the university of Baghdad, assistant professor Dr. Ali Drewel delivered a speech at the opening the forum to exemplify the slogan “university in the service of society” and the role of the center that is not limited to follow political developments pertaining to international affairs at the local and regional levels, but it extends to giving consultancy to decision-makers, authors and politicians involved in the administration of public affairs of the country. He added that the forum discusses Iraq’s relations with these eight invited countries in conjunction with the critical state faced by the country and the international coalition formed to support Iraq against the terrorist criminal groups (ISIS) whose evil would extend to the whole world, so all world countries should stand by Iraq to fight this menace before it spreads. The speech of the preparatory committee was delivered by Dr. Mufid al-Zaidi who stated that this forum will be an annual tradition to strengthen the relations of Iraq with the countries of Asia, Africa, Europe. The Forum included various researches such as: “Iraqi – French relations: a future vision” by prof. Dr. Satar al-Jbiri, “Serbia and Iraq: experiences and lessons learned” by Dr. Hamid al-Saadun, “Iraqi-Egyptian relations: constraints and opportunities” by assistant professor Dr. Khairi Abdul Razzaq, “Iraq and Sweden: possibility of cooperation in building the new Iraq” by assistant professor Dr. Moufid al-Zaidi, “Ukrainian crisis and its implications” by Dr. Talib Hussein Hafez, “Iraqi-Indian relations: deep-rooted links and opportunities” by assistant professor Dr. Moufid al-Zaidi, “Iraqi-Sudanese relations: a study in political and economic relations” by prof. Dr. Abdul Salam al-Baghdadi, “Iraqi-Sri Lankan relations and development prospects” by assistant professor Dr. Amer Kamel Mohammed. After lectures, interventions and dialogue were opened among researchers and ambassadors along with researchers and academics. This forum witnessed the attendance of the representatives of Arab organization of culture and science, the Iraqi foreign ministry, ODAI Khammas, deputy director of the foreign service institute at the Iraqi foreign ministry, Haidar Abu Shanah, director of cultural relations and scholarship department and representative of the president of the university of Baghdad, Ayad Kadhim.
