University of Baghdad is looking for opening prospects of scientific agricultural cooperation with the delegation of the university of Florence, Italy

  President of the university of Baghdad, professor Dr. Alaa Abdul Hussein stressed on the need for paying attention to the agricultural sector in Iraq and keep up with the technological developments in also openness the college of agriculture to the corresponding global and educational institutions to develop agriculture and other academic fields in a way that fulfill the ambitions of the Iraqi citizen towards self-sufficiency, especially in dairy, milk and cheese industries and what is concerned. This came during the delivered speech of the president of university to the delegation of the university of Florence, Italy, represented by head of the department of agriculture at the university, “Matteo Barbari” and Guiseppe Rossi”, an instructor at the department of forestry and coordinator of the agricultural program and marshes maintenance in Nasiriyah, Iraq. The Italian agricultural delegation praised the efforts and care of the university of Baghdad, its educational institutions concerned and its agricultural researchers to develop agricultural projects and the academic field and its desire and keenness for cooperation and exchange of experiences with the Italian university of Florence so that to improve agriculture and to serve both friendly countries. Matteo Barbari stated that “we have an intensive program to develop agricultural teams through the organization of training courses in agricultural fields for different institutions such as the colleges of agriculture and veterinary medicine”, noting that there is a new program that works on three sectors (Buffalo, rice, fish farming) that was implemented in marshes aimed at providing the best services and developing them economically and socially, as well as raising the economic level in those areas. The president of the university of Baghdad stated that our university has scientific and academic capacities and expertise for the development of farming and livestock and it is capable of supporting the private sector to initiate the process of developing agricultural projects. The delegation was accompanied by the cultural adviser at the Iraqi embassy in Rome, prof. Manahl Ali al-Nawas.
