College of agriculture participates in a global conference in Turkey and organizes a number of seminars on soil science

Department of soil science and water resources at the college of agriculture, university of Baghdad organized a seminar entitled (the effect of use of fertilizers and irrigation water quality on some chemical and fertilized characteristics of calcareous soil). M.A student “Aliya Abdel Karim” gave a lecture in which she dealt with the effect of using bio-fertilizer, irrigation water quality, degree of soil interaction, electrical conductivity and readiness of some nutrients on some chemical characteristics of calcareous soils, in addition to studying the effect of bio-fertilizer use and irrigation water quality on the growth and production of yellow corn. Also this department organized another seminar entitled (the impact of organic matter and acid phosphate rock on adsorption and release of copper in calcareous soil). The M.A student “Firas Kamil” gave a lecture dealing with evaluation of changes of copper and phosphorus in calcareous soil that have different levels of phosphate rock (40%) and Compost and its relationship with the growth of yellow corn and its elements through conducting a biological experiment. This study aimed at determining the kinetics of copper in soil by studying chemical equations that describe changes happening in the concentration of copper in soil, as well as copper adsorption capacity and emancipation. The college of agriculture participated in a global conference on soil science held in Turkey attended by a number of competent researchers in the applications of remote sensing and geographic information systems from various countries including Iraq. The participation of the college of agriculture was represented by the teacher “Riad Khair Adin Abdul Latif” with his paper entitled “digital classification technologies of Shatt al-Arab and beyond” by holding two workshops on the sidelines of the conference, the first one is related to the practical applications of (ASD) devise in determining the metal configuration of soil, and the second workshop is on how to use this devise since it is effective in remote sensing widely. The conference raised many scientific topics and problems related to natural resources and presented related recommendations for future plans and projects among the researchers on a global scale.
