College of engineering discusses the possibility of opening modern laboratories and organizes a lecture on the use of smart electric meters in Iraq

  Department of electric engineering at the college of engineering, university of Baghdad discussed the possibility of establishing a special laboratory for (Schneider) equipment that contributes in the development of scientific, practical and educational abilities of students and researchers. This project came a result of a lecture given by Al-Khairat Al-Taiba co. which imports the products of Schneider Electric, Inc. in Iraq and Prestigio co. in Iraq giving a detailed presentation of the products of this company in regards to automation, control systems and PLC. In this context, the two sides held a meeting with representatives of these companies, head of the electrical engineering department and a number of instructors concerning the possibility of opening a special lab equipment to provide its scientific and educational services for students and researchers at the department. The meeting was attended by students of primary and graduate studies. On another level, during the first semester of the year 2014-2015, pro. Dr. Hanan Mikhail and the teacher Saif Abdul Amir gave a lecture on smart meters. The teacher Saif al-Din Abdul Amir gave a preview on some smart meters of one phase and three phases. Dr. Hanan Mikhail spoke about smart meters and the important devices that fall within the smart grid, in addition to shedding light on the traditional meters still used in Iraq, as well as the possibility of installation of them in Britain and China, showing theit positive impact on the users of electric network. The lecture was attended by head of the electric engineering department and a number of department instructors and graduate students
